Network analysis is a powerful tool for understanding consumer affinities by mapping the relationships between different communities. In our study of No & Low alcohol consumers, we started with the r/NoLow subreddit and analysed the posting histories of its 900 members across other forums. By collating this data, we measured the strongest connections to adjacent communities, which you see clustered below. Each node in the diagram represents a subreddit, links indicate significant user overlap between them, and clusters highlight tightly knit groups, all with high user overlap.
Network analysis can offer intriguing insights into hidden communities, potential whitespaces, and marketing opportunities for a given industry.
Our analysis has revealed several high level groupings – 4 of which represent opportunity areas for brands.
